A stellar line up of coaching experts will feature in the second Isle of Man Sport Coaching Festival.
Titled ‘Helping best practice become common practice’, the festival takes place over the weekend of Friday 6 and Sunday 8 September 2019.
During the weekend coaches will get to “break bread” over breakfast with sporting giant, Bryan Habana. The South African Winger and 2007 Rugby World Cup winner will be on Island delivering a series of fundraising events for Isle of Man Rugby thanks to N7 Sports Events. After breakfast, Bryan will take part in an interactive Q&A session, where guests can put their best questions to a true legend of rugby.
John Mills - Head of Coaching for British Cycling for the last 20 years - will deliver two UK Coaching Workshops: ’Coaching the Person in Front of You’ and ‘Coaching Children 5-12: The Next Generation’ both of which are certificated by UK Coaching and have yet to feature on the Island. John has been a major part of developing cycling into one of the UK’s most popular participation activities.
Other guests who will be delivering workshops over the weekend include Danny Newcombe and Scott McNeill who hail from the sport of hockey. Danny is a key figure with the coaching staff for Wales Hockey national teams. Scott has been a key figure in developing the coach education programme for Great Britain Hockey and also consults to academy coaches in the English Premier league. Between them, Danny and Scott will present workshops to help the Islands coaches to create more effective learning environments and to better understand constraints led approach in coaching.
Food and refreshments will be made available during the festival to keep coaches nourished and ready to learn. The festival is a great opportunity for coaches to mingle and share ideas on how they can use their new found knowledge in coaching.
Isle of Man Sport is committed to supporting volunteer coaches in their development and aim to remove or reduce financial barriers where possible. With this in mind each day is competitively priced from £10 to £25 each. Those who book for the whole weekend you will get £10 cash back after attending the full festival.
Tickets can be booked and paid for online at www.iomsportcoachingfestival2019.eventbrite.co.uk where a full breakdown of the schedule and supporting information about each workshop and guest speaker is available.
